Phantom Recorder saves stories before they disappear, downloads highlights, posts and reels, and records live broadcasts — through the Instagram account you are signed in with.

Good to know
- A private profile can only be read if the account you signed in with follows it.
- Instagram only shows a running live in the story tray of your own account. That is why lives are recorded for accounts that account follows.
- If Instagram says it cannot see an account, it is rate limiting your session. Wait a few minutes; signing in again does not help.
- The time filter in Get does not apply to stories and highlights.
How it works

Sign in to Instagram
Instagram answers nothing useful without a session. Add yours in the program, under the ··· menu → Instagram.

Add the account
Create a card for the person and type their Instagram username on it.

Fetch what you want
Open Get, choose Posts, Stories, Highlights or Picture and press the Instagram chip. Tick the tiles and press Download selected. Reels show their cover first; the video is fetched when you download.

Let it watch
STORY saves new story items by itself, checked every three to seven hours. LIVE records broadcasts of accounts your signed-in account follows.

Questions
Can I download Instagram stories without signing in?
No. Instagram answers nothing useful without a session, so you sign in once inside the program. Phantom Recorder then saves what that account can see.
Does it work with private profiles?
Only if the account you signed in with follows the private profile. Phantom Recorder can read what that account can read, and nothing more.
Can it record Instagram lives?
Yes, for accounts your signed-in account follows. Instagram only reveals a running live in that account's story tray.
Why does it say it cannot see an account?
Instagram is rate limiting your session. Wait a few minutes and try again. Signing in again does not help.
